How to tell if you need blue or orange
This is the decision almost everyone gets wrong, and there is a thirty second test that settles it.
- Pull out a shed strand and wet it.
- Stretch it gently between your fingers.
- If it stretches a long way and does not spring back, or feels soft and gummy, the protein structure is compromised. That is orange, The Kure.
- If it snaps almost immediately with no stretch at all, it is dry and brittle rather than damaged. That is blue, Hydro Rush.
Damage and dryness feel similar in the mirror and need opposite treatments, which is why a routine that was working can suddenly stop. If you have been using repair products and your hair got worse, you are probably protein overloaded and should switch to blue for a month.
Which amika line for curly hair?
Curl Corps, the deep green one, is the curl line. It is a cream gel hybrid with softer hold than a true gel, which suits wavy and looser curly hair well.
If you have type 4 coils, Curl Corps alone will probably not be enough moisture. Layer it over Hydro Rush conditioner, or look at a brand built specifically for coily texture. Is amika worth the money?
amika sits in the twenty five to thirty dollar range per bottle, which is mid shelf. The formulas are good and the colour system, once decoded, is genuinely easier to shop than a brand that names everything after an ingredient.
